Not quite as smooth as a rolex, but for the most part its alot smoother than most. I like the fact that the hour, minute, and 12 glow at night. It feels very solid due to its heavy, almost half inch thick face. The band does not feel as solid but does not pull all of my arm hair out, which is a plus. <br /> <br />The date and day of the week moved forward when the time changes. The month however does not seem to do it. Of course I have only had it for a week now, and I don't fell like winding the watch forward for 30 days worth of time. I cannot stress how large this watch is. If you order it you must understand that it is a vary large watch and much heavier then any other watch I have owned. This is mainly due to the self winding feature. The underside of the dial is see through which enables fossil to show the intricate detail they strive to achieve with their watches. The see through window shows how the self winding feature works by using a weighted device which uses the kinetic energy of your arm and hand throughout a normal day to always keep the watch wound. The manual says that the watch when fully wound has enough energy to maintain accurate time for up to 34 hrs without being worn, so if you plan on only wearing this watch on special occasions, understand that you will have to reset the time every time you do not wear it for greater then 1 1/2 days.
